Bootleggers ferry liquor in ‘Army’ truck

To our utter surprise, we found a camouflage Army truck manned by two ITBP uniform clad men. Following this, the police have launched a manhunt for them. Rajkot: Bootleggers used a camouflage Army truck manned by two Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) uniform clad men to ferry a total of 14,112 bottles of Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL), worth Rs 49.39 lakh, which were seized from a factory premises in Hapa of Jamnagar district on Thursday morning.Apart from the ITBP uniform clad men, six bootleggers were also arrested in the operation carried out by the Rajkot rapid response (RR) cell.“We raided the premises of Parishram Oil Industries, a closed down factory, after receiving a tip-off that bootleggers were gathered there to divide the share of IMFL bottles. It did not take us long to understand that why the truck carrying such a large supply of liquor was never stopped on its way from Ambala in Haryana to here in Hapa,” said M P Vala, sub-inspector of Rajkot RR Cell.“The cops at the checkposts on the borders of Haryana, Rajasthan and Gujarat, remained under the impression that the camouflaged Army truck indeed belonged to the Army and let it go without checking,” added Vala.Those arrested were identified as Amirsinh Labana, a resident of Sotali village near Ambala and Gurupritsinh Labana, a resident of Sen Majara near Ambala, who were dressed in ITBP uniforms, Vipul Siyar, a native of Hapa, Rajesh Gilhotra and Pravin Datta, both residents of Harinagar locality of Delhi, Subhash Suneria, a resident of Budela of Etawah district in Uttar Pradesh, Ramanjiniual Valmiki and Suresh Mahadima, both residents of Vajukarur village of Anantpur district in Andhra Pradesh.The accused gave the names of Parth Sharma, who had uploaded the bottles on to the truck in Ambala, Ramzan alias Raju from Rajkot, Jitesh Makwana and Jasubha Jadeja, the owners of Parishram Oil Industries from Jamnagar, who had sought the liquor supply..
