A 22-year-old woman from Rajkot allegedly killed her five-month-old son so that she could live with her paramour who refused to accept her child from a previous relationship.

Rajkot’s Aji Dam police said that they have detained Amish Koli and her partner Munna Koli, who confessed to having killed the infant Dharmik and projecting the death as owing to illness.

The incident came to light after the infant’s father Hitesh Patel (25), a driver, gave an application to Gondal police accusing his livein partner Amisha of killing their five-month-old son along with her lover Munna on Thursday morning.

“Based on Hitesh’s application, we questioned the woman who confessed to killing the infant with the help of her paramour on February 19.

She confessed to burying the baby at the children’s graveyard in Gondal,” said Aji Dam police inspector V J Chavda, investigating the case.

Cops said they will exhume the body of the infant from the graveyard on Saturday in the presence of the sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) after which the two accused will be formally arrested.

The remains of the child will be sent for forensic postmortem, he added.
