New HC judge takes oath of office

RANCHI: Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad took charge as the 19th judge of the Jharkhand high court (HC) on Thursday. The vacancy of judges at present stands at seven as the sanctioned strength of HC is of 19 permanent judges and six additional judges. Chief Justice Anirudhha Bose administered oath of office to him at the court premises.Born in 1967, Justice Prasad has completed his MA (Economics) and is a law graduate. He was appointed as an additional judge of the HC on September 26, 2014.Justice Prasad joined as a judge in Odisha HC in March 2015 after his transfer from Jharkhand HC.It may be noted here that at present, there are 14 permanent judges and five additional judges in the Jharkhand HC. He enrolled as an advocate in June 1995 and started practising at the Ranchi Bench of Patna high court..
