Restrictions on movement of heavy commercial vehicles on Mango-Dimna Road

Jamshedpur: The district administration stopped heavy commercial vehicles from taking the busy Mango-Dimna Road during the day from Sunday.Now, all heavy commercial vehicles will have to take the Domuhani-Kanderbera overbridge to enter and exit the Steel City from 6am to 11pm. In 2014, the outfit had organized a day-long hunger strike in support of the demand to ban the entry of heavy vehicles on Mango-Dimna Road. There are even instances of ambulances carrying patients getting stuck on the Mango-Dimna Road.However, between 11pm and 6am, heavy vehicles can use the conventional route to enter the industrial town via NH-33 . This decision has come as a huge relief for the residents who had to put up with traffic jams while commuting to schools and offices. Heavy commercial vehicles were earlier allowed to enter the city through Mango-Dimna Road between 10:30am and 12:30pm and exit the town between 3pm and 5pm.The residents thanked the local MLA and minister, Saryu Rai, for instructing the district administration to revise the no-entry schedule to stop plying of heavy vehicles on Mango-Dimna Road during peak hours.Rai asked the administration to ensure that heavy vehicles use the new Domuhani-Kanderbera route while entering or exiting the city from NH-33.“The purpose of constructing the overbridge was to decongest traffic on Mango-Dimna Road,” the minister told the deputy commissioner Amit Kumar.The Mango Nagar Vikas Samiti distributed ladoos on Sunday to welcome the decision of the administration..
