Birsa Agriculture University adopts Nagri village to train farmers

RANCHI: Birsa Agriculture University on Saturday said it will adopt Nagri village in Ranchi district to develop it as a model agricultural village. It is after 25 years that the university has taken the responsibility to develop a village by imparting training and necessary resources to the farmers and showcase it as a model to other farmers. In the 1990s, the university had adopted Belangi village in Ranchi for supporting the farmers.BAU vice-chancellor Dr Parvinder Kaushal inaugurated the project as part of BAU's 37th foundation day celebrations. "Once the project is approved we can carry on with the activities for three to five years," Oraon said.After selection of farmers for training, Nagri village will be used as a model to train farmers from other districts and states as well. BAU is completing 36 years of research and teaching in agriculture and allied sciences on Monday.During the ceremony to mark the adoption of the village, deans, directors and scientists of the university accompanied the VC..
