A CorrespondentSHILLONG: United Democratic Party (UDP) legislator from Mairang constituency, Metbah Lyngdoh was on Friday elected as the new Speaker of the Meghalaya Assembly. The election to the post of the Assembly Speaker was necessitated after the sudden demise of Dr Donkupar Roy on July 28. The new Speaker of the Meghalaya Assembly, was a nominee of the ruling Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) coalition. Leader of the House and Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma and Leader of Opposition, Mukul Sangma congratulated the new Speaker.
