STAFF CORRESPONDENTSHILLONG: The president of the North Khasi Hills unit of the Khasi Students Union (KSU) Ferdynald Kharkamni was finally arrested on Monday after evading arrest for more than a month. A look-out notice was issued to Kharkamni who had barged into the Umiam Police Station and assaulted the Officer-in-Charge and another head constable on October 15. An FIR was lodged against him; and soon after that he absconded and evaded police arrest. Today's arrest came 24 hours after the State Home Minister James K Sangma had stated that he will be arrested soon.
