COVID 19 BSF provides essential items to border villages in Meghalaya

Staff CorrespondentSHILLONG: To fight the challenges of COVID-19, the BSF in Meghalaya is putting up all out efforts to assist the civil population residing along the international border in coordination with the civil administration, NGOs and civil organization. In one such effort, DIG PRO BSF under Meghalaya Frontier along with 123 Bn BSF in association with Textiles Merchant Association, Food Grain Merchant, Jain Committee Meghalaya, Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Shillong Lion Club and media houses on Saturday distributed 6,000 kg of rice, 400 litres of refine oil, 2,000 kg of potatoes, 600 kg of pulses, 800 kg of salt, 1,600 packets of biscuits, face masks and other essential items to 600 villagers of border villages in East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya. During the event, the BSF took all necessary precautions while distributing ration by wearing gloves, face masks and sanitizers, at the same time educated the civil population about COVID-19 and its precautions. PRO BSF said, “We are putting tremendous efforts to look after the welfare of the border population residing along the international border and keeping constant touch with the civil administration/NGOs in order to address the needs of the populace.
