Meghalaya received 957 fresh cases of Covid-19 on Tuesday, taking the total cases tally past the 31000 mark to 31,499.

The state`s death toll mounted to 502 after 19 people succumbed to the deadly virus on Tuesday.

The north-eastern state has 7,941 active cases currently.

The cumulative recoveries reached 22,221 till yesterday(24 May), after record 679 under-treatment patients recovered from the Covid-19 in the state on Monday.

A total of 5.98 lakh tests have been conducted in the state so far.

Over 4.35 lakh people have been inoculated in the state so far and 83,000 have received both doses of the vaccine, health services director Aman Warr said,

Meghalaya, yesterday (Monday) reported the 811 Covid-19 cases.

Meanwhile, a complete lockdown has been imposed by the state government from Wednesday 8 pm till 5 am of May 31 in the East Khasi Hills district, which includes the state capital Shillong.
