Meghalaya logs 846 fresh Covid cases, active cases cross 8000 mark

Meghalaya received 846 fresh cases of Covid-19 on Tuesday, taking the total cases tally past the 32000 mark to 32,295.

The state`s death toll mounted to 512 after 10 people succumbed to the deadly virus on Wednesday.

The north-eastern state has 8,055 active cases currently.

The cumulative recoveries reached 23,728 after 752 under-treatment patients recovered from Covid-19 in the last 24-hours.

A total of 5.98 lakh tests have been conducted in the state so far.

Altogether, 4.45 lakh people have been inoculated in the state till Tuesday with over 83,000 of them have received both doses of ‘Covishield’ vaccines, health services director Aman Warr said.

Meanwhile, chief minister Conrad K Sangma visited three facilities that will be converted to COVID Care Centres in the city.

Basic Training Centre at Malki will be turned into a medical facility with a capacity of around 100 beds for the treatment of coronavirus-positive patients.

Industrial Training Institute at Rynjah will have 45 beds, when it will be converted to a temporary COVID care facility, while the District Commerce and Industries Centre at Nongrim Hills can accommodate around 60 beds.
