SHILLONG: The Indian Institute of Management, Shillong, on Thursday hosted a delegation of eminent economists from the Monetary Policy Committee of the Reserve Bank of India as a part of the RBI's outreach programme to discuss the Monetary Policy Report which was published in October, 2017.MD Patra, executive director and member of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), Praggya Das and Pratik Mitra , directors of the RBI, and a number of honorary delegates from the RBI shared their insights on India's monetary policy and other policy initiatives undertaken by the RBI. "Talking about the importance of the general population in driving the economy, the panel said, the RBI tries to communicate every decision credibly to the people by explaining complex ideas in simple terms, to have people's expectations on board. The challenges and impediments faced while satisfying all the stakeholders were also discussed and the role of investment in GDP growth was looked at in detail," an IIM statement said.The students engaged in an interactive session with the panellists and discussed the impact of major structural reforms such as demonetisation and the implementation of GST..
