Himachal Pradesh to develop water reservoirs as tourist hotspots

SHIMLA: Chief minister Jai Ram Thakur on Wednesday said the state government would prepare a comprehensive plan to develop natural and manmade water reservoirs as major tourist attraction in Himachal Pradesh . He made the announcement while presiding over a meeting to decide on action plan of tourism and water sports in Shimla on Wednesday.Thakur said the state had immense potential to develop its water reservoirs, which have been constructed to facilitate power projects, and develop them as major water sport facilities to draw tourists. He said that Kol Dam was yet another reservoir which has the potential of water sports. In addition, possibilities would be explored to start boating and related activities in Sundernagar lake. He said Pong Dam could to be prove a major attraction not only for birds lovers but also water sports enthusiasts.Thakur said the possibilities would also be explored to start boating and other water sports at Pandoh Dam in Mandi district ..
