Overnight downpour triggers landslides in Himachal Pradesh

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is engaged in four and double-laning of Kiratpur-Manali highway. Nearly 30 tourist buses bound for Manali stopped nearly 8km before Manali and tourists had to hire taxis while many preferred walking with their luggage. MANALI: Heavy downpour in many parts of the state on Sunday night triggered landslides at multiple places, affecting vehicular traffic for hours.A huge landslide at Kalath, 8km from Manali, had blocked Kullu-Manali national highway on Monday evening. A landslide near Jaon in Nirmand subdivision of Kullu district, from where Shrikhand Mahadev yatra begins, had blocked the road and damaged two vehicles.
