Summary:

SHIMLA: The education department here is going to act tough against teachers responsible for poor results in Classes X and XII. The department has asked all deputy directors (higher education) to identify teachers and schools having results less than half of the pass percentage of board exams within two days. It further says that in case the result of the same teacher continues to be poor in the next academic session, then an appointing authority will impose penalty of withholding one increment with cumulative effect. It says that penalty will be imposed against the teacher who had taught a particular subject for a minimum period of nine months in an academic year and there were at least five students studying that subject in the school. They have also been directed to consider the issue on priority.According to the 2011 notification, within 30 days of the declaration of the result of each board, deputy directors had been to hold meetings on poor results with the heads of all schools within the district where result in a particular subject is half of the board pass percentage..
