Eight die of Scrub Typhus, 15 positive cases reported in Himachal Pradesh

Mandi district has reported 83 positive cases, Kangra district has reported 62 positive cases, Solan district has 53 positive cases, Una has 46 positive cases, Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital received 30 positive cases, Sirmaur district received 29, Kullu 27got and Chamba district got 19 such cases. On Saturday, 15 new positive cases were reported at Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, Shimla. SHIMLA: Scrub Typhus is spreading fast in the hill state. It is transmitted through the bite of an infected mite larva present in soil which has scrub vegetation. Since Himachal has extensive scrub vegetation, the disease is endemic to the state.Health officials have urged people to wear full-sleeved clothes while going to fields as the disease spreads in the monsoon..
