Rains batter Himachal Pradesh, 378 roads closed, 13 dead across north India

On Monday, 378 roads were closed due to landslides — 213 roads in Shimla zone, 49 in Mandi zone, 29 in Hamirpur zone and 86 in Kangra zone. The Indian Air Force rescued 21 persons, including two on Monday, and 14 persons were rescued by adopting other means. From Koksar, 45 vehicles have been retrieved.In Chamba district, 600 students and teachers were shifted from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya and 100 students from Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya Mehla. At Gagret in Una, the manager of a juice factory was killed after a landslide hit the factory.Heavy rain severely affected life in 10 of 12 districts of Himachal Pradesh . A temporary road link for small vehicles has been established through Raison Bridge.Kullu deputy commissioner Yunus said so far only three deaths have been confirmed in the district..
