SHIMLA: Additional chief secretary (Health) RD Dhiman said on Wednesday that Himachal Pradesh has reached the eradication stage of leprosy as its prevalence rate is less than one case per ten thousand people.Dhiman was presiding over the state coordination committee meeting on leprosy case detection campaign in Shimla.Dhiman said that 'Sparsh', a leprosy awareness campaign, will start on the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on January 2 and end on his 150th birth anniversary on October 2.He said that during the campaign, leprosy case detection will be done in Kangra, Kinnaur and Mandi whereas focused leprosy campaign will be started in Bilaspur, Chamba and Shimla where cases of grade-II were found during 2016-17.Dhiman said that prevalence rate of leprosy in the state during 2017-18 was 0.19 as compared to national average of 0.66..
