HP gets Rs 292 cr loan to improve water supply, sewerage services

The loan is to improve water supply and sewerage services in Greater Shimla area. Shimla: On Friday, in a meeting held at New Delhi, a loan of Rs 292 crore ($40 million) has been approved for Himachal. Country director Junaid Ahmad and team leader Smita Misra represented the World Bank in the meeting. The development policy loan-1 (DPL1) will be given by the Central government and the World Bank. Himachal government had negotiated for Rs 986 crore ($135 million).Following the water crisis during last summer in Shimla, the state government had applied for the loan to put in place the infrastructure required before summer hits the hills again..
