HP budget session concludes amidst walkout, sloganeering

Prior to the walkout, Congress legislator, Sunder Singh Thakur pointed out that Palchan-Rohtang ropeway project had not made much progress and held the state tourism ministry responsible for the decrease in the number of tourists in the state. He said that the walkout was an insult to the house as the members of the opposition had stated wrong facts and did not wait to hear the responses. "It seems there is none to guide the opposition, they are misinformed and it is not true that there have been frequent changes in the tourism departments as alleged by one of their leaders," pointed out the chief minister. SHIMLA: Staging a walkout on the last day of the budget session on Monday, the Opposition Congress demanded more time for discussion pertaining to issues which varied from lack of development in the state to a dip in the number of tourists.Amidst slogan shouting from treasury and opposition benches Congress legislators walked out during the Cut motion on Tourism. "Frequent change of Directors of Tourism in the last one year and the delay of setting up the Tourism Board had led to the reduced footfall in the state,'' alleged Thakur.Noisy scenes were also witnessed in the house with the mention of Hamirpur MP Anurag Thakur , to which Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Bhardwaj , said that it was against the rules to take the name of a person who is not present in the House.Meanwhile condemning the walkout, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur termed the act as irresponsible..
