National Highway of Himachal Pradesh, the Shimla –Mataur highway have been declared unviable by central government.

Mukesh Agnihotri leader of opposition said no road  except from Amritsar-Una highway falls into viable national highway.

National Highway of Himachal Pradesh, the Shimla –Mataur highway have been declared unviable by central government.

As a result it proposed four-lanning have been cancelled on stretches .

Mukesh Agnihotri leader of opposition  said no road  except from  Amritsar-Una highway falls into viable national highway.

Union Ministry of Road and transport prepared a recent list on this.

He said that Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari had announced national highways worth Rs 65,000 for the state.

Stil little have been done on ground, he also said “at least ensure that it remains a national highway and is not handed over to the PWD”.

Jai Ram Thakur (CM) replied on this and said that 223 km of the highway connecting Shimla to Mataur in Kangra district were declared unviable, following which he took up the matter with Gadkari.

On Tuesday, the Centre asked NHAI to continue to maintain the highway instead of handing it over to the PWD.
