In many areas like the canal corridor, SVNIT to ONGC and other segments, swing gates are serving its purpose. Each swing gate closes nearly Rs 2 lakh.Much to the shock of SMC officials, people started damaging the swing gates to make way for themselves inside the BRTS lanes. SMC should also ensure that there is no more delay in installing the remaining 120 swing gates so that order is restored on those routes. In the last one year, 210 swing gates have been installed near the BRTS bus stops and another 120 are proposed to be fitted this year.
