SURAT: The south-west monsoon made an official entry into Gujarat on Saturday with the districts including Valsad, Navsari, Surat and Dangs in south Gujarat region receiving heavy to moderate rainfall.The districts of Dangs and Valsad received heavy to moderate rainfall in the last 24 hours till Saturday afternoon. The residents experienced very high humidity after the rain stopped.The meteorological department stated that heavy rainfall is expected in the next 48 hours in south Gujarat and parts of Saurashtra. Most of the talukas in both the districts received rainfall above 100mm.In Valsad district, Valsad town recorded 62mm rainfall followed by 117 mm in Pardi taluka and 86mm in Vapi town. There was moderate rainfall on Saturday with Jalalpore recording 1mm, Vansada 6mm and Khergam 10mm.The diamond city witnessed heavy to moderate showers in scattered places on Saturday morning. However, the talukas in tribal district of Dangs including Ahwa received 29mm, Waghai 138mm, Subir 42mm and Saputara 15mm respectively.Navsari district’s Vansada received 31 mm rainfall followed by 19mm in Khergam on Friday night..
