100 people shifted as rain pounds Umargam again

Surat: Umargam taluka in Valsad district on Monday received 117mm of rain compelling 100 people of Rohitwas near Vishwakarama temple to return to the temporary relief centre set up by the local authorities for them. Some people had to be shifted to a shelter as a precautionary measure.”Meanwhile, there were no reports of rain anywhere in south Gujarat on Monday. These people chose to go home after staying at the relief centre for two days but had to return because of heavy rainfall. Umargam has received 375mm of rain in just two days from Sunday, official sources said, adding that downpour stopped after 3pm but all roads, including SV Road, continued to remain flooded.
