Man cheated online, accused booked

Surat: A 56-year-old man was defrauded by an unidentified person of Rs10,000 in an online case of cheating. The accused then used the same details to withdraw Rs10,000 from Patel’s account in IDBI Bank. Patel lodged a complaint at Chowk Bazaar police station soon on coming to know about the cheating.The unidentified accused has been booked under various sections of Indian Penal Code for breach of trust and cheating. The accused was booked at Chowk Bazaar police station for cheating on Sunday.It is mostly the accused who call people and trick them in giving card details which they use to carry out financial transactions or withdraw money from the victims’ accounts. In this case, it was the victim who called the accused over phone and gave him his card details in good faith.Police booked the accused on receiving a complaint from Natvar Patel, a resident of Singanpore.Patel had recently purchased a cotton grey kurti from Snapdeal online shopping website..
