Water level at Meethi Khadi still above danger mark

Surat: The water level of Meethi Khadi which crossed the danger mark in the city to touch 7.7 metre a day earlier is yet to subside. Vambay Awas and Saraswati Vidyalaya in Parvat village were inundated after the water level in Meethi Khadi crossed the danger mark at 7.25 metre on Thursday. There was no rain either in the city or anywhere else in the district on Friday, yet the water level in Meethi Khadi remained above the danger mark.“We are building 26.40km long embankment to prevent flooding by Meethi Khadi and Kakra Khadi under Mindhola National River Rehabilitation Plan. The water level in Meethi Khadi rose alarmingly after the city and Kamrej, Palsana and Bardoli in Surat district received 127mm and 80mm of rain, respectively in the past 24 hours.
