Summary:

The panchayat has spent about Rs 8 lakh for setting up separate room for postmortem in each of the PHCs. Talking to TOI, Naik said, “There are about seven PHCs in the Choriyasi taluka alone, but none of them provide the postmortem service. The people living in Suvali village near Hazira have to travel 30 kilometres to the NCH for postmortem.” Naik alleged, “There is a clear order from the state government of performing postmortem at the PHCs. But they have been locked and used as the store room.” Choriyasi is the largest taluka in terms of the migrant population..
