SURAT: Over 1 ,700 runners from different parts of the country participated in the half marathon organized by Surti Runners, a non-government organization, here on Sunday. The top three winners of the half marathon in men and women categories were given prize money of Rs40,000, Rs25,000 and Rs15,000, sources said.In the 10km race, Shailesh Gangoda won the race in the men’s category. The organizers gave prizes to top three local runners in all the categories. Those who participated in 5km run were mostly in the age group of 10 to 50. The total prize money of Rs6 lakh was given to winners in different categories of the race Runners belonging to Valsad, Bardoli, Bengaluru, New Delhi, Ahmedabad and other places in the country, including city, participated in the half marathon of 21km, and 10km and 5km races in male, female and veteran categories..
