Surat: An unidentified man was booked at Khatodara police station on Saturday for stealing diamonds worth Rs6 lakh from a stall in gems and jewellery exhibition Sparkle 2018 here. The burglar stole 99.13 carat polished diamonds from stall no 212 of Tej Diamond at around 6pm on Friday. The exhibition premises is guarded by 20 gunmen during the daytime.After stealing the diamonds, the accused left the exhibition dome and went to a roadside pan shop. The accused used a working mobile number and identified himself as a gems businessman,” said an officer of SGCCI.Even in the past, thieves had succeeded in stealing valuables from Sparkle.
