Top officer of AAI nabbed accepting bribe of Rs30,000

Surat: Sleuths of anti-corruption bureau (ACB) nabbed joint general manager (engineering and civil) of Airports Authority of India (AAI) at Surat airport for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs30,000 from a contractor on Thursday. The accused had demanded commission for clearing a bill of annual maintenance contract of the complainant at Surat airport. The accused officer has been nabbed 12 days before Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to officially launch international air service from the city airport.Radha Raman Gupta, a class I officer of AAI, was nabbed by ACB sleuths while allegedly accepting the bribe from the complainant in his office at Surat airport. The accused came to check out twice before accepting the bribe if he was being trapped.
