Summary:

Surat: Authorities of Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT) are likely to take actions against its former in-charge registrar D P Vakharia, whose delay in getting required audit clearance cost the institute high. Vakharia, who is also a professor in Mechanical Engineering Department, was in-charge registrar when the institute failed to submit audited accounts for two years. During the inquiry, top officials of the institute were caught on the wrong foot when the former in-charge deputy registrar Patij Shah, who was looking after institute’s accounts department, too resigned from his post. Shah is yet to submit his reply to the institute. A show cause notice has been issued to him earlier this week wherein he was asked to explain the delay in auditing the accounts and other issues..
