SGCCI urges SMC to implement ‘on street’ parking in Nanpura

Surat: The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) office-bearers have applied pressure on Surat Municipal Corporation’s (SMC) urban planners to quickly implement the ‘on-street’ parking facility along the entire stretch of road from Nanpura to Dutch Garden and put an end to visitors’ parking woes. The estimated cost of the parking was pegged at Rs 1.25 crore and the SGCCI said it would manage the entire system.“The SGCCI building, located on the main road at Nanpura, has been facing parking woes for many years now. At present, the visitors to the SGCCI are not allowed to park their vehicles on the road, forcing them to keep the vehicles somewhere far off. Apart from this, the stretch also has a school, a public garden as well as the headquarters of Nanpura post office.
