Key CDR case accused gets conditional bail

THANE: The magistrate court here has granted bail to the prime accused in the illegal procurement of Call Detail Record (CDR) case busted by crime branch in January this year.The accused, Saurabh Sahu, was arrested last month, moved the bail plea in the magistrate court of Shahin Inamdar Sahu was declared absconding by the investigators and subsequently he moved for the anticipatory bail which was rejected by the sessions court here. Thakre, in his say requested the court not to release him could pressurize thr other witnesses and tamper with the evidences.Sahu's advocates Subhas Hulyalkar and Zia Shaikh told the court that the complainant is a third party in the case whose CDR has not be sourced neither there is name of Sahu in FIR also, the othet accused are out on bail etc and hence he should be granted bail.The magistrate, after hearing both the sides granted bail to Sahu on certain conditions to abide by. Sahu was held from Ghaziabad near New Delhi.The police had earlier claimed, in January, four Navi Mumbai-based private detectives, who were allegedly selling CDRs of persons requested by clients and following the intense probe, Sahu's name emerged as as one of the main source of CDRs to the co-accused.The CDRs are strictly confidential information which can be legally provided by cellular service operators strictly to a police officer of the rank of deputy commissioner of police or thr Superintendent of Police (SP) and above.Nitin Thakre, the senior police inspector and the investigation officer strongly opposed the bail and told that the court that accused is a repeated offender and earlier was arrested by Delhi Police in 2017 in a similar case, and was subsequently released on bail, also he is not cooperating with the probe and most of the coaccused named him as a prime source of the CDR..
