Stolen 17th century fort cannon found

NAVI MUMBAI: A 17th century cannon (weighing almost 60kg) stolen from Padmadurg fort, off Murud coast in December 2015 was found at an ongoing dredging site for a jetty at Ekdara, around 4 km away from the fort, on Wednesday noon. The Police will be handing it over to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). Assistant Inspector Kishor Sale said, “We are probing the theft case filed by the ASI.” Padmadurg is one of the five historical sea forts built by Shivaji Maharaj in 1672-1673.
