Portion of slum gallery wall collapses, 3 hurt

THANE: Three slum dwellers, including a three-year-old boy, sustained minor injuries after a portion of their gallery wall came crashing down on a shop below near Jama Masjid in Thane’s Hajuri area on Tuesday afternoon A resident in the slum settlement intimated the rescue officials, who rushed to the spot within minutes along with a rescue vehicle, the local fire brigade team and police officials. Raju Quareshi (45), three-year-old Mohammed Faja and Shabitul Khan (50) were rushed to a private hospital in the vicinity and given the required medical aid and then discharged.RDMC officials claimed that the wall of the one-storey structure was weak and undergoing repair when it collapsed. — Avani Ghangurde.
