Driver flees with bizman's Rs 2 lakh car used as Uber

THANE: A 30-year-old Manpada-based businessman was allegedly robbed of his car worth Rs 2 lakh by his driver late in August.Police said that the victim, Deepak Nair , had started the Uber facility and hired Goregaon-based driver, Ram Yadav , to ferry commuters during the day for a fixed pay-per-trip he made.He had made multiple checks on driver Yadav, including crosschecking his driver's license, identity, home address, etc.However, unlike usual, Yadav reportedly failed to bring the vehicle back to Nair's house on August 31.After his repeated attempts to reach Yadav on his mobile number and residence over the past week failed, Nair lodged a case of theft against him at Chitalsar police station.The investigation is currently underway..
