Ten extortion cases have been filed against Gawde at Virar, Tuling and Kasarvadavali police stations in March-April.Gawde who was expelled from the Shiv Sena after the extortion cases surfaced, had filed petitions before the HC for quashing and setting aside the FIRs. In his petition, Gawde alleged that he is a victim of conspiracy as his action had caused prosecution of errant builders and had stalled their rampant bribing cartel. The HC held that the allegations are serious and should be investigated by the CID..
