1,000 tribal couples tie knot at one go in Thane

SHAHAPUR: On Sunday, 1,101 Hindu tribal couples tied the knot at a mass wedding ceremony held in Shahapura taluka of Thane district . Couples also received various gifts items from their families and different other private persons who attended the event. Fadnavis also paid tributes the soldiers who martyred in the terroist deadly attack at Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir on February 14.The NGO alongwith wedding expenses also given Rs 10,000 each couples. Patil said his NGO will organise weddings of 3,500 couples in November which, he said, will be a world record.Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis while addressing the event said the concept of mass wedding is a good idea and such events help people save a lot of money. Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis , Thane's guardian minister Eknath Shinde and member of Parliament Kapil Patil, who were present besides other administrative officials, blessed the couples.The ceremonies were organised by Patil Foundation and Hindu Seva Sangh ( Maharashtra ) which had organised a mass wedding of 501 couples last year.The NGO, along with wedding expenses, gifted a purse of 10,000 to each couple..
