THANE: An adult leopard rescued from the basement of a hotel in the busy Samata Nagar area on Wednesday, was released back into the Sanjay Gandhi National Park late on Friday night with a "passive identification" chip implanted into its tail. "Keeping a wild leopard in captivity for too long is risky as it gets imprinted on humans and is then unable to survive in the wild. The chip will help forest officials learn if it ever exits the forest again.
