THANE: On observing mismatch in the consumption and collection of electricity, the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited ( MSEDCL ) has come down heavily on the defaulters Officials have penalized electricity defaulters in Kalwa region and recovered over Rs 13 lakhs in fine amount and compounding fees. The residential users were illegally using power for commercial activity paying a paltry amount to the MSEDCL. The week-long drive by the officials was undertaken following a review of the revenue collections and the power consumption by the residential and commercial users revealed huge discrepancies.
