City saw fewer road deaths than last yr

Navi Mumbai: There has been a dip in the number of deaths in road accidents in the first five months of this year compared to the corresponding period last year.Better vigil and pre-emptive checks aimed at instilling road discipline among motorists have led to fewer road deaths , traffic department officials said.There have been 42 less deaths in road accidents this year. "In a slight cause for worry, the difference in the number of deaths went up by 2 to 44 in May.The traffic department has now shifted its focus on being monsoon-ready to maintain its good record. The focus was on pre-emptive strikes to caution motorists. There has been a dip in the number of injured too. "My focus was on taking action against various violations like talking on the mobile while driving, not wearing helmets or seat belt or breaking zebra crossing rules..
