Orders placed for cranes for Vizhinjam project

more-inAdani Vizhinjam Port Private Ltd (AVPPL), the private multi-port operator selected to build the superstructure and operate International Multipurpose Deepwater Seaport at Vizhinjam, has placed orders for the cranes needed for the seaport. Orders have been placed for eight 72-m cranes that can shift containers from vessels that berth at the seaport to the yard and for 24 small cranes, a spokesman of the AVPPL said on Friday. As much as 70 tonnes of granite is needed for completing the 3.1-km-long breakwater of the seaport. The AVPPL is also trying to source granite on its own from the capital and adjoining districts.
