Woman goes missing in Karamana river at Aryanadu

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Two days after district administration issued alert after shutters of three major reservoirs were raised owing to rise in water level, a woman reportedly went missing in Karamana river at Aryanadu here on Monday.Rema, 50, was reported missing in the river in the morning by her brother Radhakrishnan. The police said that Poomuttikadavu where Rema went missing is generally known to be a safe place.The district administration had issued alert to all residents near water bodies against wading into water as the shutters of three reservoirs had been raised. Rema lived with her husband Ravindran , sons Rahul and Rajeev. The police have learnt that Rema usually left home by 6 am in the morning to offer prayers at a temple by crossing Poomutti kadavu which is very shallow. She would complete prayers and return after fetching milk from a neighbouring house across the river by around 7 am.On Monday she had left as usual but did not return home even by 8 am..
