Summary:

more-inIn a heartwarming gesture, National Service Scheme (NSS) student volunteers of Vocational Higher Secondary Education (VHSE) spent the entire Onam holidays preparing study kits for 30,000 fellow students in flood-affected areas. Nearly 30,000 student volunteers from 312 VHSE NSS units are part of the Snehaksharam scheme which envisages that each volunteer identify one student who has been affected by the floods and help in their rehabilitation. Besides making notebooks, money collected by the NSS from its activities in schools was also used for getting the kits in order for students who had returned home from relief camps. The students, pursuing the Printing Technology course in schools in Pampady, Kunnamkulam, and Chelari areas, put the expertise gained in the classroom to good use by making notebooks for the study kits. These were presented to students at their homes the day before school reopening so as to welcome them back to schools..
