THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Congress party has refused to comment on the Supreme Court verdict in the Isro espionage case.KPCC president M M Hassan said here on Saturday that he had no comment to offer regarding the verdict. He said that the reason for the court verdict in favour of Nambi Narayanan is Congress and former chief minister Oommen Chandy. A few months ago, Hassan had said at a public function in Kozhikode that he regretted working for ousting Karunakaran from power.Meanwhile, CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said that the verdict has exposed the dirty face of Congress party. “The KPCC has no opinion to offer in such matters. The verdict has nothing to do with the party,” he said.When asked about the comments by Padmaja Venugopal , daughter of former chief minister K Karunakaran, that she would depose before the SC-appointed commission, Hassan said that the probe was welcomed but he would not say anything regarding Padmaja’s comments.The spy case was then used by the political opponents within the party to dethrone Karunakaran from the post of chief minister in 1995..
