Green protocol brings down waste generation during Pongala to 65 tons

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The city corporation brought down waste generation during Pongala from 72 tons to 65 tons owing to strict implementation of green protocol. "In 2018, we could easily bring down waste generation from 300 tons to 72 tons after pongala due to implementation of green protocol. The officials said that imposing green protocol could considerably reduce total waste generation. 113 organisations had registered for food and water distribution during Pongala.Corporation workers swung into action soon after the sprinkling of holy water on Pongala day and spread out in various stretches for post pongala cleaning. This year the waste generation is estimated to have come down to 65 tons..
