CEO: No curbs on discussing Sabarimala women's entry row

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief electoral officer Teeka Ram Meena on Wednesday said there was no blanket ban on discussing Sabarimala during the election campaign but parties should not use the name of Sabarimala or Lord Ayyappa for soliciting votes and creating disharmony. However, he said there was no restriction in discussing political and social issues connected to the women's entry row.He had earlier warned parties against raising Sabarimala in the campaign, leading to protests from the BJP and Congress . "If anyone uses any picture, poster, video of any religious institution to solicit votes, it will be considered a violation," he said.
