KWA mulls pipeline to prevent water loss

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala water authority ( KWA ) is mulling a proposal to lay pipes to bring water from Peppara dam to Aruvikkara . If we get sanction to raise water level without much delay, we will be able to utilize the rainfall this monsoon season,” said a KWA official.If water level at Peppara is raised to full reservoir level, KWA could ensure water supply without any struggle. KWA has also initiated a new scheme to draw water from Neyyar.KWA is also gearing up to get consent to raise water level of Peppara dam before monsoon. Water level at Peppara is depleting after the onset of summer. KWA officials said that the water level should be raised to maximum to ensure supply for more projects.Currently, the maximum level is 107.5 metres and shutters are placed at that level..
