Kerala reports 4,937 new Covid-19 cases; TPR at 6.64%

Summary:

The state reported 4,937 fresh cases on Tuesday, pushing the Covid tally to 10,11,956.

Among the new cases, 4,478 people contracted the disease through local transmission while the source of infection of 340 others was yet to be traced.

There are 29 health care professionals among those infected and 90 of those who tested positive had arrived from outside the state.

The state reported 4,937 fresh cases on Tuesday, pushing the Covid tally to 10,11,956.

Among the new cases, 4,478 people contracted the disease through local transmission while the source of infection of 340 others was yet to be traced.

There are 29 health care professionals among those infected and 90 of those who tested positive had arrived from outside the state.

At the same time, as many as 5,439 patients have recovered from the disease.

As many as 18 deaths that occurred in the past few days were confirmed as due to Covid-19 taking the related death toll in the state to 4,017.

A total of 84 people who returned from the UK after a new strain of the virus was detected in the country have turned Covid-19 positive.

Till date, 10 of them have been diagnosed with the new strain while 70 have been tested negative for it.

The remaining results are awaited from NIV, Pune.
