Covid-19 in Kerala: 1,989 more positive cases in less than 24 hrs

Summary:

Among the new cases, 1,746 were of local transmission and the source of infection was not traceable for 153.

There are 15 healthcare professionals among those infected and 75 people have arrived from outside the state.

Fresh Covid-19 cases were reported among 1,989 more people in the state on Thursday.

With this, the total number of cases reported till date has become 11,10,897.

Among the new cases, 1,746 were of local transmission and the source of infection was not traceable for 153.

There are 15 healthcare professionals among those infected and 75 people have arrived from outside the state.

At the same time, 1,865 patients have recovered from the disease.

Meanwhile, 12 deaths occurred in the last few days were confirmed as due to Covid-19, taking the related death toll in the state to 4,540.

A total of 102 people returned from the UK, five persons who returned from South Africa and one person who came from Brazil, have become Covid-19 positive.

To date, 11 among them have been diagnosed with the new strain and 101 have been tested negative of the new strain.

The remaining results are awaited from NIV, Pune.

In the last 24 hours, 51,027 samples were tested with a test positivity rate of 3.9%.
