A five-year-old girl was allegedly tortured to death by her 23-year-old stepfather in Pathanamthitta district of Kerala, a report stated on Tuesday.
According to the police, the now-deceased minor girl used to live with her mother, a daily wage laborer, and stepfather at a rented accommodation in Pathanamthitta’s Kumbazha area.
The girl`s stepfather, a native of Tamil Nadu, is addicted to alcohol and ganja.
On Monday, the girl was allegedly assaulted by her stepfather when her mother had gone to work.
Around 2 pm, the girl’s mother came back home and found her unconscious.
When she questioned the accused about the girl’s condition, he severely thrashed her.
Later, the mother informed neighbors and rushed the girl to a hospital for treatment.
The girl, however, could not be saved.
